Something a little different!

For my wife's birthday this year (02.02.2026) I wanted to make her something by hand . . . so I decided upon an inlay ring - not just any inlay ring, a ring that has been personalised, just for her.
I started off with two practice pieces - no real customisation, just resin, glitter and polishing . . . they actually turned out really nicely and I seemed to be able to use what I already knew to good effect.

I have never made an inlay ring with clear resin before - I have done lots of painting of engravings, but resin is a new process for me.
It's tough, permanent and completely water-proof - ideal for headset caps!
To make it really bespoke I wanted to add her name and some kisses into the design - she loves pink and I found some bright pink sparkly glitter to use too.

Now they are all finished, I have to say that I am really pleased with the quality of the finish - the letters are just 3mm high - all drawn and cut by hand and look fantastic amongst the glitter.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, Sam was really pleased with her gift and has been wearing it ever since!
Resin inlay is a really great way to add some sparkle and colour to a bicycle headset cap and I have now used what I have learnt . . . on a headset cap - this one is stainless steel with a deep engraving - in the light, it's pretty spectacular and we now offer an inlay service for all headset caps too - either aluminium or stainless steel with up to 10 different colours in the design.
